Requirements for purchasers: We politely ask that you have the proper housing, zoning and committment for raising our animals.

Help us prevent disease by not bringing outside birds here unless you discuss with us in advance. We strive to remain disease free. All boxes or carriers must be clean and free of feces.

All of our poultry is blood tested for salmonella in parent stock by NYS Dept of Ag and Markets every spring. Last tested 4/2015. Our certificate is available for your review upon request.

We do not buy from auctions or casual sources. We believe all poultry owners should strive to reduce the spread of disease in poultry stock.

We do not take pre-orders or pre-payment for the poultry. We tried this in the past, but it just didn't work out well. You can call or email for our current availability. The majority of our customers are able to get what they want due to our varied selection. We prefer for you to come and look around and pick out what you want!

We sell mostly pullets due to the fact that is what most of our customers prefer. Pullets, by definition, are females 1 day to 1 year old. Cockerals are males under 1 year. Straight run is mixed sexes as sexing is not available on all poultry.

The fancier bantam breeds are sold as straight run with no guarantee of sex.

TO BUY CHICKS:

  1. Look at the Dates. There will be 4 or more choices of chicks for each date. The date listed is hatch date and chicks may not be ready to go for a couple of days. Always check avaiability on our "chick page" on the website or call.
  2. Decide what you want out of your poultry.... Eggs? Meat? Pets?
  3. Chicks can be mixed ages as long as less than 2 weeks separates them. Example, Do not put a 4 week old chick with a ten day old chick. The closer that chicks are to each other in age, the better off they are. Likewise, do not start chicks and ducklings together. Ducks grow much faster.
  4. On the webpage next to the breed, chicks will be listed "now available", "limited supply", or "sold out". If in doubt, please call or email.
  5. If possible, please bring a box along. We do have boxes available but it helps us out if you bring your own.
  6. Bring along a list of questions. Jim will try his best to answer them. Because our business is seasonal, you may have to wait a few minutes for assistance. Jim has over 40 years of poultry experience, understands his animals and is happy to share his expertise with you.
